This is not meant to be mean or offend the general public.

I have been a semi driver now for over 9 years.I have been around the profession longer. So experience I have.
It is true we see our great wonderful United States.
The job, however comes with a high price to our families.
Our profession,is similar in some ways to our wonderful military personal. We all spend a great amount of time away from the people we love and care about to serve our country.

Someone asked me recently "Why do you drive a semi and be gone from your family?"
The answer to the question I had was "It's how I choose to serve the wonderful people that live and work in our grand country."

I can't speak for the other drivers we have in the USA,only for myself. To some it maybe just another load of produce, can goods, paper products, car parts, etc etc.I realize how many individual citizens my 1 shipment of fresh produce affects in their daily lives.I take great pride in doing the job as best I can.
We often get blamed for accidents with 4 wheeled vehicles. In truth we prevent 1,000 more by our alertness and professionalism.

I am not saying our profession is without individuals that might be better suited in another line of work. That is in all professions if you look hard enough.

We have heart,we have strong character, caring devotion to the ones we love. And even to those we dont know. We make sure citizens of this country have the merchandise they need for their daily lives, everyday of the year.
We have no holidays. We roll our rigs on the roads 365 days.

Most individuals do appreciate what type of job we do.Most just dont understand our passion for the road. Its the same passion we have in our lives.

So in closing, please you see us out on the roads everyday, bear in mind what we have in our trailers you might be purchasing at the store. And you would be surprised how much we also appreciate a Thank You every now and again for doing what we do.Safely, responsibly, with caring and devotion.
And please give us braking space in front. And dont follow too closely. Our tires get very warm, and tread pulls apart, its dangerous to your family.Last thing any driver in the country wants is someone hurt from something off of their rig.

Enjoy your life everyday and above all else smile. You just might brighten someone else's bad day.
